Little Visitor from Chicago – Toledo Baby Photographer

Today (yes, I said today…I’ll explain in a bit) I got to see little H again. I met him for the first time for a family session with his parents, aunt and uncle, cousins, and grandparents. This time he was in town and came out to the studio to celebrate being just over one year old! H was pretty serious for most of the session, we were thinking it was a combination of teething and the time change and travel. But I was so happy to go through and find lots of smiles I caught in between the serious faces. I’m so glad, he has the best smile, not to mention those gorgeous blue eyes!

This face cracked me up, I had to include it!

It was so wonderful to see you all again!

OK…I am not trying to be unfair, but I think if I keep trying to catch up on the blog I will never get back to the point I want to be at…where I am showing off a few images from each session right away. I have not forgotten about all the sessions I have left from the past few months, but I will be mixing them in when I can. For now I am starting fresh from my return from my conference. I’m also making some big changes, which I’m working on when I can and will roll them out all at once…but I included a sneak peak if you’re paying attention

I’m Back! Vegas was colder than Toledo – WPPI Photographer

Yep, it was true and no fair! You would think you could go someplace warm in the beginning of March for a working vacation and escape the cold weather! Here’s a quick iPhone snap from my trip…and honestly I didn’t think to take too many pictures, I was so busy the whole time I was there! This is at the NY NY right across from the MGM where I stayed:

I did take some night shots with some local Photographers: Sarah, Echo, and Jaylene. I’m not sure if the pictures will ever make it off my memory card to the blog, but it was so much fun!

Highlights of my trip to WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International):

Hanging out with my husband and his friends that he rarely gets to see

After he left, hanging out with neighbor and WPPI roomie Sarah J

Finally meeting six of my friends from a small, close-knit group that has been discussing business and more for about 3 years now.

Meeting favorite newborn photographers Carrie and Britt and being up front for their wonderful presentation.

Being front row and one of only 35 to see my absolute favorite wedding photographer, Jose Villa, teach his masterclass. He was so nervous, it was adorable…and he had the best stories…and his images, while amazing online are even better in print.

Watching the judging of prints, especially when Jesh de Rox was arguing for images that made him FEEL even when they weren’t technically correct. It was all so entertaining and taught me so much.

Other inspiring photographers I got to see talk or meet around the tradeshow: Jasmine Star (and later got a hug when I saw her out walking, she is so sweet), Nichole Van, Audrey Woulard, Millie Holoman, Dane Sanders, John Mireles…so many of my favorites willing to share so much.

Meeting my goal for the tradeshow part of finding new products, especially albums that blew me away…can’t wait to get some samples

Going out and having fun, the parties, piano bar, dancing…I don’t get a chance to get out much

And the not-so-great:

The smoke everywhere…I changed clothes twice a day most days, and went out and bought more…my closet at the hotel smelled…my eyes were red every time I walked through the casino to get to the conference…thank goodness for the Ohio ban!

Lines…the popular classes would have lines start 2-3 hours before…but some classes only had an hour in between, so often it was impossible to get in a class you wanted to see. And I skipped lunch most days so I could sit in lines.

The time difference…it hurt to come home after staying up late and then taking a red eye. I should go to bed now to get back to normal, but I am so used to being up until 3 or 4 or 5 Toledo time.

Internet connection…wifi was only free in a very small area that was always packed and the AT&T 3G access was really bad. I didn’t have the time to take my lap top to the wifi spot or spend enough time in my room to pay for access and my iPhone rarely connected. So I have a lot to catch up on now that I’m home.

So…over all I am so glad I went, and I can’t wait for next year! I have so much inspiration and new ideas, new products and software, and I can’t wait to get going with it all.

I have emails and calls to return, but the kids are out of school tomorrow and I am without a sitter so it may be a little slow getting to everyone.

Central Park West and the Zoo – Toledo Wedding Photographer

I have to skip ahead a bit…my next session was a boudoir, and a gift for a groom, but they are going to be married out of town very soon and I don’t want to ruin any surprises! So look for the boudoir session when I get back, I am leaving tomorrow for the WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) big conference! I’ll be there learning and checking out new products until March 11. I’ll check emails and voice mails once in a while, so forgive me if I take a little while to get back to you!

Meet Elisabeth and Brett! These two were already officially married, but had a ceremony and reception for all of their families and friends December 26th!

We met up at the Toledo Zoo for some shots before the ceremony started. Elisabeth was amazing, it was extremely cold that day! You can’t tell from these shots because she is amazing! And my wonderful second shooter had a blanket in her car to wrap up with between shots!

Loved the butterflies with her butterfly tattoo:

Retro Baby – Toledo Newborn Photographer

I’m determined to get caught up on my list before I go to a photography conference next week…in case you did not see the note at the top of the page, we’ll be closed March 5-11th, so there may be delays in orders, emails, voicemails until after I get back. But next on my list was this adorable little guy..who shares a name with my current favorite TV show.

And I about died when I saw his room…mom has a fabulous eye for great finds and putting together such a great retro style room! She’s painted furniture, gotten cute stuff off ebay that reminds me of my childhood, and added an adorable little baby to top it off!

Love hte hat she had too! And he was such a great sleepy baby!

It was so nice to meet you both!

A Few Quick Sessions for Friends – Toledo Photographer

I’ve been so lucky through my past few years in this business to make some wonderful new friends with other small business owners. It’s so great to get to know these other women who are going through a lot of the same things I do…and I am always so flattered when they ask me to photograph them!

I was happy to run over to the Maumee Valley Country Day School Teacher’s party to take some quick shots of the yummy food that the Two Seasoned Chicks had set out. They’re so versatile, this was a whole different spread from the bridal shower I shot earlier in the year, but still so delicious! This first shot is of the best bread I ever had:

Right around the same time, I ran over to the wonderful photographer, Sarah’s house for a fast Christmas session with her and her adorable son. Sarah recently moved into my hood and I ran into her while out walking the dog, I’ve been so lucky to get to know her better since then. I’m excited to be going to a big photographer’s conference with her soon! Isn’t her son so handsome?

Little Man O – Toledo Family Photographer

Mom owns the cutest boy’s clothing company, Somebubby…the little shirts and ties are adorable!!

Toledo Rep and Courtyard at the Navy Wedding – Toledo Photographer

I had a slideshow up from Kirsten and Scot’s December wedding a little while back, but I wanted to give them a proper posting with my favorites. If you don’t remember, they wanted nothing posed…a fully photojournalistic, candid wedding. I love it!

This was such a favorite of mine…Kirsten’s dad working on his speech while everyone was getting ready.

Kirsten is gorgeous!

Kirsten and her friends grew up acting in the Toledo Rep, and the wedding ceremony had several original musical acts depicting how Scot and Kirsten met, a typical day, etc! I was SOO impressed by the talent of everyone and the show was quite entertaining!

I always love watching the parents of the couple…

Kirsten’s matron of honor had to go on a military tour of Iraq and miss the wedding. She was able to watch the ceremony and reception and deliver her speech through Skype…there wasn’t a dry eye in the house!

Some Pink for Your Valentine’s Day – Toledo Photographer

I hope you all had a nice Valentine’s Day! We had a pretty laid back day, but I got to sleep in a little bit, see the kids get so excited to give me their cards, meet a couple to talk about their wedding day (what could be more fitting on Valentine’s day?) and eat coconut cake, which I think is my new favorite.

I’m still working on my list, and made some good progress, so I thought I would share another session from last year. And it was a very pink session, perfect for today! This was the lovely family I enjoyed spending some time with in early December…

Sweet Sisters – Toledo Child Photographer

Finally, the last of my November sessions! I am getting caught up on other things so you may be seeing lots of December posts soon! My goal is to get back to normal and show sessions right after they happen by the end of this month, we’ll see!

These two beauties came to the studio with their jammies, pretty dress up dresses, and their doll and stuffed dog with matching dresses! They are cousins with two little boys I’ve had in a few times before and it was fun to see the similarities. I am getting ready to run, but check out how much fun we had:
