I was so excited to see Shelly and Paul’s wedding in the new issue of the knot Ohio! They had gorgeous details and fall colors all tied together by Shelly’s great friend Jenn…who we later found out was a childhood neighbor of mine who suggested me to Shelly and Paul without having any idea that the Jennifer Mott she found online was the same Jenny Roper from down the street. I’m always amazed at what a small world it is. So check out the magazine spread, and brides, so grab a copy, there are always cool ideas in there!

Sara and Jeff – Valleywood Golf Club – Toledo Wedding Photographer

On May 22, 2011, Sara Mott (no relation but fun!) married her love, Jeff at beautiful Valleywood. It was a gorgeous day with bright blue skies and puffy white clouds…

Check out some of my favorites from their wonderful day!

It was pretty windy, which led to some creative thinking to hold the aisle runners down…but not a lot of room to maneuver!

Eston’s made a gorgeous cake, and I loved the homemade cookies to match!

I am working really hard to get proof galleries and blog posts up, orders in and out…I was actually supposed to be in Detroit today for an annual workshop and backed up to get more work done…so bear with me, I’ll have more soon!

Kym + Archie – Christ the King & Holland Gardens – Toledo Wedding Photographer

On May 8, 2010, Kym and Archie tied the knot! A gorgeous bride, handsome groom,wonderful family and friends, beautiful details…and an official NFL mascot, what more could I ask for? It was such a special day and I am so honored to have been a part of it!

I started out at Ahava with Kym and the girls…

Then on to Christ the King for the big moment!

We originally had plans to go outside for some fun shots, but it was a crazy windy day and Kym changed her hair from an updo to leaving it down because it looked perfect that way…so we didn’t want the wind to ruin it! Instead we went to my favorite indoor spot.

The wedding party was a blast!

Finally we ended up at Holland Gardens, which was beautifully decorated.

Some of the decorations made me and my diamond obsession happy…

And not long after dinner, unknown to the happy couple, Archie’s parents had arranged for Who Dey, the Cincinnati Bengal’s mascot to drive up and surprise them! He danced the night away and even rocked the microphone for a bit…

And of course, the ending to their story!

Toledo Trash the Dress

Last week, R, my boudoir client from a few posts below contacted me to see if I was interested in shooting some trash the dress shots…heck yeah! She had gotten married in Vegas and the dress was already dirty from walking around there so she thought it would be fun to do some more damage. I suggested some spots I’ve been dying to use, but they were not places I felt safe taking kids…which is a good thing because at the first spot we saw a lot of bones! One full ribcage that must have belonged to a sheep or dog or something, and at one point I accidentally kicked a vertebrae then stepped on a rib bone that were both so big they must have been from a horse or cow. I was a bit freaked out! But it was worth it, we came up with some amazing images! And we lucked out with the weather! I happened to have last Wednesday night open and it was going to be so warm and sunny…it worked out perfectly!

R is so gorgeous and OMG her dress was to die for! I just love the warm glow in this first one:

We had a blast, it was so much fun exploring with you R! And thanks to D for coming along, it was so nice to meet you! And no, I still would not stay overnight by myself here unless you were well into the 6 figures

On another note…today is my oldest son’s 10th birthday! I cannot believe that he has grown up so fast or that I have been a mom for so long! Double digits! And it’s crazy to think back 10 years ago I was in the hospital in Tualatin, Oregon on a warm sunny day with no idea I’d be moving back to Ohio soon and no idea how amazing motherhood would be. I miss my tiny baby, but it’s been fun watching him lately, really getting into creating things with his lego mindstorms or starting to get into the Harry Potter books and getting through them faster that I probably did! So tonight we’ll be celebrating and later after he goes to bed I will tackle my inbox, thanks for being patient!

Central Park West and the Zoo – Toledo Wedding Photographer

I have to skip ahead a bit…my next session was a boudoir, and a gift for a groom, but they are going to be married out of town very soon and I don’t want to ruin any surprises! So look for the boudoir session when I get back, I am leaving tomorrow for the WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) big conference! I’ll be there learning and checking out new products until March 11. I’ll check emails and voice mails once in a while, so forgive me if I take a little while to get back to you!

Meet Elisabeth and Brett! These two were already officially married, but had a ceremony and reception for all of their families and friends December 26th!

We met up at the Toledo Zoo for some shots before the ceremony started. Elisabeth was amazing, it was extremely cold that day! You can’t tell from these shots because she is amazing! And my wonderful second shooter had a blanket in her car to wrap up with between shots!

Toledo Rep and Courtyard at the Navy Wedding – Toledo Photographer

I had a slideshow up from Kirsten and Scot’s December wedding a little while back, but I wanted to give them a proper posting with my favorites. If you don’t remember, they wanted nothing posed…a fully photojournalistic, candid wedding. I love it!

This was such a favorite of mine…Kirsten’s dad working on his speech while everyone was getting ready.

Kirsten is gorgeous!

Kirsten and her friends grew up acting in the Toledo Rep, and the wedding ceremony had several original musical acts depicting how Scot and Kirsten met, a typical day, etc! I was SOO impressed by the talent of everyone and the show was quite entertaining!

I always love watching the parents of the couple…

A little dance on their exit:

Kirsten’s matron of honor had to go on a military tour of Iraq and miss the wedding. She was able to watch the ceremony and reception and deliver her speech through Skype…there wasn’t a dry eye in the house!

The Knot 2010 Best of Weddings – Toledo Wedding Photographer

I was surprised to find out not too long ago that I was chosen by the Knot Ohio readers as one of the Best of Weddings for 2010!! (I’ve been really into following wedding blogs and magazines in the last year, but I must have missed this last year because I didn’t know this survey existed) I was so flattered to be chosen, I want to thank everyone that voted for me! I’m proud of this honor after just one full year of expanding into weddings and I’m so excited for my weddings this year! The magazine is on newstands now, the cover looks just like this one but says Ohio.

And to include something of my own, I am going to skip ahead a bit to show off a slide show from Kirsten and Scot’s early December wedding. I will do them justice with a full blog post all about their amazing day when it’s their turn in my never-ending catch up But I love the emotion of their day, and that the motto for me was “no posey-posey” I tried my best to be a fly on the wall and let them enjoy their day. Some of the images included were from my wonderful assistant for the day, Gloria Avina. Wait until you hear more about their wedding, I bet you’ll be curious after seeing the stage show!

Shelly and Paul traveled in from Colorado to get married at Nazareth Hall…and I had the pleasure of capturing their big day! Not many words today as it’s late, but check out some details from their wedding:

Abdalrahman and Aya’s Katb Ketab – Toledo Wedding Photographer

Last month, on my birthday, I had the honor of capturing Abdalrahman and Aya’s Katb Ketab. It was a gorgeous day full of beautiful details, people, and was so interesting for me to see all the cultural traditions. All the family and friends were incredibly nice to me, constantly making sure I was having a good time and getting food, drink… I really wish everyone was able to see what I did in the girl’s only side of the reception, I don’t think I have ever seen more beauty all in one place. I will be short on words again as it’s my crazy time of the year and I am multitasking several things and hope to get some proofs and emails out before I take off for a session.

I love this picture because of Abdalrahman in the mirror waiting.
