Little Visitor from Chicago – Toledo Baby Photographer

Today (yes, I said today…I’ll explain in a bit) I got to see little H again. I met him for the first time for a family session with his parents, aunt and uncle, cousins, and grandparents. This time he was in town and came out to the studio to celebrate being just over one year old! H was pretty serious for most of the session, we were thinking it was a combination of teething and the time change and travel. But I was so happy to go through and find lots of smiles I caught in between the serious faces. I’m so glad, he has the best smile, not to mention those gorgeous blue eyes!

This face cracked me up, I had to include it!

OK…I am not trying to be unfair, but I think if I keep trying to catch up on the blog I will never get back to the point I want to be at…where I am showing off a few images from each session right away. I have not forgotten about all the sessions I have left from the past few months, but I will be mixing them in when I can. For now I am starting fresh from my return from my conference. I’m also making some big changes, which I’m working on when I can and will roll them out all at once…but I included a sneak peak if you’re paying attention

A Lovely Family in Chicago – Child Photographer

In November I traveled to Chicago to shoot this wonderful family! I originally thought that they were referred through one of my many connections in Chicago, my brother or one of his friends or through one of the other families or friends of families that I’ve had sessions with before who have friends out that way. But no, mom just found me on the internet and brought me out…how flattering!

I was able to bring my kids and mom along to turn the trip into a short visit with my brother and a trip to the Lego store, the American Girl store, and the Cheesecake Factory. Everyone was happy!

Meet the adorable children of the R family! And I have to say, they have the most adorable names too! Almost wanted to rename my three

I swear there is nothing better than Chicago neighborhoods with the fencing and I was so excited that there was still some fall color…

We did most of this happy little guy inside…

And finally, a few of big sister in her beautiful bedroom…I loved it! And she was just the most beautiful little sweetie!

I am on my way out the door for a working trip to Chicago…and I’m taking editing with me, don’t worry!! But I had this peak of this session almost ready so I wanted to get it up before I left! I had so much fun…and just loved their property on Lake Erie, PERFECT for a game of football, boating on the pond, swinging from willows…OK, I need to leave…

Family Getting Together – Toledo Family Photographer

I met with this wonderful family a little while back on their beautiful property. Some came in from Chicago and some from Florida…but they all brought the cuties! Starting with this little guy, check out the suspenders, LOVE them!!

With mom and dad, I just love his expressions, I was cracking up going through these…

I am getting there on my to-do list! I will be closed August 9-12, any emails and orders that come in will be processed after that time.

I may be planning a working trip to Chicago for November 8th or 9th through the 10th. Perfect time for Christmas card pictures or a session around town…I LOVE Chicago and there are so many perfect spots for pictures! If you’re interested, please let me know now so I can plan!

I have a bunch of families from last weekend that I know are anxious and being patient for their sneak peaks!! I had a lot of orders/questions/emails/proofing/albums come up lately and I am working as fast as I can on everything! I know one of my resolutions for next year will be to set in place some policies to keep my workflow spread out each month, instead of everything coming in at once. I think the ordering session option at the studio will really help! And Santa brought me a projector, soI am really excited to be able to show you your pictures on the wall, in the real sizes that you will hang at home! It will be so helpful to visualize!

I sat down yesterday with a plan to knock out a lot on my list and instead my editing software wouldn’t open. UGH. I love spending hours getting software to work that was fine just before. I blame Vista. Once I finally got it working, I looked through my first after Christmas session and oh man! There was not a single picture of this little guy that wasn’t completely adorable! He is the happiest little guy!

Meet little C from Chicago! This family was in town and is another of my crazy small world stories! I was talking with them, and Wisconsin came up, so I mentioned I went to school there…dad said he went to Marquette and I was like, no way me too! And then, after figuring out what years and majors we were he asked if I knew this guy Chris S. And the craziest thing is that Chirs is one of the group of guys I hung out with in engineering and at the bars and parties. (hmm, should I admit I went to bars and parties? ) And the mom went to my high school, Notre Dame Academy around the same time as I did too! I really can’t believe sometimes the connections I have with the new families I meet.

OK, one last thing! Don’t forget if you want to nominate someone for the photography session donation, today is the last day for nominations!! I will be picking someone tomorrow. I have no idea when, and I have no idea how I will choose! I have gotten so many really heartbreaking stories about wonderful people I just don’t know how I will decide. I will probably have my husband and my assistant help narrow it down.

Chicago vacation – quick pictures

I should be in bed, but I am completely not tired. And last night I felt the same way and I tossed and turned. So I am posting my vacation pictures from Chicago… I have been working all night and kind of had this moment of panic, what if I over-write by card with the vacation pictures because I never take the time to upload them? So I did. And I had some fun ones to share. These are all straight out of the camera except for crop and web sharpening, so ignore anything you see wrong Photographers can take snapshots on vacation too!

His cute puppy, Sydney is getting big (also on the roof, I need to find a picture of the “cabana” area):

Lucy on the roof, she is thrilled she has Duncan’s prized turtle, Slumper. She is always wrapping babies and stuffed animals, maybe a future newborn photographer?
